A removable suction handle can provide a point of light balance assistance on a suitable surface. It must not be used to carry body weight, stop a fall, pull yourself upright or transfer into a bath. For those tasks, choose a rated grab bar fixed to structural support.
Follow the product instructions for permitted surfaces. Suction fittings need a smooth, flat, clean and non-porous mounting area. Textured tiles, grout lines, cracks and uneven surfaces can prevent a reliable attachment. Check the dimensions before ordering.
Fit the handle exactly as instructed and test the suction before each use. A fitting that held previously can loosen. Remove it from use if the handle, fittings or mounting surface are damaged, or if the attachment is uncertain.
Clean the fittings and mounting area according to the supplied care instructions. Inspect regularly and refit as directed. Avoid using an unverified attachment as a safety measure.
The removable attachment can be convenient when a permanent installation is unsuitable, but every new surface must be checked. The light-balance limitation applies in every location, including hotels and rented bathrooms.
If a person needs support while standing, bathing or moving between surfaces, seek advice about a structurally fixed and suitably rated bar. A qualified installer or occupational therapist can help assess position and installation. Contact us before buying if you need product details clarified.
